- Thomas Telford have published (or will publish, the publication date is January 2007) a new book which, "summarises previously unpublished science and engineering behind the Foresight Project of Flood and Coastal Defence performed on behalf of the Office of Science and Technology (now the Office of Science and Innovation) and reveals the methodological basis for the study as well as its outcomes."

- The largest flood storage project in Europe, the Alkborough Flats Tidal Defence Scheme in Lincolnshire, will reduce the risk of flooding for 300,000 people and become a haven for wildfowl and wading birds, the Environment Agency stated recently.
